If you already have the Nik Collection installed to your computer, you can skip this step. If you are on Windows I can't answer where the plugins are or what the uninstall steps should be. Step 1 Install the Nik Collection 2018 by DxO. I am on a Mac so I used the standard uninstall steps of dragging the app from the Applications folder in Finder to the Trash can. To reveal it open Finder, select the folder on the left for your user name, on the main menu bar at the top of your screen and select View, and on the popup that is displayed you will see the option "Show Library Folder", just check the check box for Show Library Folder and the Library folder will appear in your user name folder. Now by default the Library folder is a hidden folder on the Mac. I have only been using the Mac for about a year myself so I am very cautious. If you are on a Mac the V1 Plugins folder is in the folder Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo/PluginsĪnd for V2 the folder is Library/Application Support/Affinity Photo 2/Pluginsīeware if you do go in and start messing with the files in the Library folder it is possible to foul up your Mac so you may want to get an experienced friend to help you. In a few month when you are totally sure you are not needing the v1 apps then will be the time to completely uninstall am on a Mac and these are the Plugins folder locations and uninstall method that I used. Keep the two versions resources totally separate!Īnd as Walt suggested copy over the v1 Photo Plugins content to the new v2 Photo Plugins folder if you need it. However I would strongly suggest not linking or pointing any of the v2 apps to content contained within any of the v1 installed support folders. If you are planning on never using the v1apps ever again then much disk space could potentially be recovered by removing their supporting folders. These folders could run to several GB in size depending on what you have added to the v1 apps in the past. If you delete just the v1 app itself manually from the Applications folder on the other hand, then all it’s supporting folders should remain as they are in the Affinity Photo folder as found in Application Support or Containers, depending on where you purchased the v1 Affinity apps from. If you use a third party app to delete APv1, like for example AppCleaner (but not limited to just that app), then these types of app will go hunting for anything they can find connected to the original installation of APv1, like it’s Plugins folder and remove it. Whether you loose the v1 Plugins folder or not will depend on how you uninstall v1 Photo. I think I read they (Serif) will be releasing an update that will sort of address the issues, although unfortunately they're not going "back" to a standard installer scheme. But that's apparently just a temporary stop-gap. Someone from Serif wrote and posted a generic exe that you can put in your path and call, then it will run the app. It's all related to the v2 apps being packaged as Windows Store apps. If you're not already aware there's been a LOT of (sometimes heated) discussion regarding this topic over there. I recommend reading through the exe path related threads on the Affinity forums first. 2 is just a literal expanded version of 1. #1 is the official Microsoft method, but more than a few found it didn't work. Get the files off my Google Drive here, since the forum won't support afphoto uploads:Ĭode: Select all C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPhoto2_2._圆4_3cqzy0nppv2rt\App\Photo.exeĪlthough I used #3, I recommend trying them first in this order. If XnView can read and display the embedded preview, that's good enough for me. Despite Affinity Photo not being recognised by the installer, you can select to install the Plugin files to the default Affinity Plugin folder. It lists the compatible Host applications the installer recognises on your computer. I don't have the spec, which I'm sure is proprietary. This is the important screen as it controls where the Plugin files will be installed. I'm on a PC running Windows 10 and have the Gigapixel folder in the Plugin Search Folders. Note the v2 images have the same extension as v1, but per Serif they're a different (and not backward compatible) format. Consisting of 88 raster brushes, this add-on has been specially curated from Felix’s personal set of Affinity retouching brushes. The plugins for Denoise and Sharpen work but Affinity Photo can't find Gigapixel. An Affinity Photo 2 file of water lilies (originally JPG) I opened and saved in Photo.Īll files are relatively small, since a full res TIFF from my camera will create a Photo file typically around 135 MB or more. The original screenshot PNG for comparison if needed.ģ. I just opened the PNG then straight away saved it as an afphoto file.Ģ. An Affinity Photo 2 file that's a screenshot of my desktop with the XnView forums open in Firefox.
